Our Story
Amici dei Vini reflects a simple vision — a place to inspire your conversations and celebrations with family and friends, as only a wine or spirit can. Amici dei Vini, which translated means “friends of wine”, draws inspiration from owner Paola Narder’s upbringing in Veneto, Italy where wine is woven into the fabric of everyday living. With its fresh, modern aesthetic, welcoming ambiance, and exceptional selection and service, Amici dei Vini welcomes everyone — seasoned, fine wine & spirit connoisseurs, as well as those early in their journey. From approachable everyday selections to premium vintages and hard to find spirits, each bottle reflects its history of people and places for you to discover and we look forward to sharing those stories with you.
MEET THE TEAM
Paola Narder
Founder
Born in Zambia to parents hailing Paola was born in Zambia, and raised there by parents hailing from the Veneto region in Italy. Her father was an avid wine collector and her mother was a self-taught chef and they loved to entertain family and friends, hosting countless gatherings over the years, and inspiring Paola’s own interests in food, wine and entertaining.
In the renowned Cartizze region, famous for Prosecco sparkling wine, Paola’s extended family owns vineyards and is involved in the production of Prosecco, nourishing her passion for the wine industry.
Paola’s foray into the wine world began with a love for hospitality, education, and fostering connections over life's pleasures. Paola's professional journey commenced in Milan, where she honed her skills in International Sales with the Campari Group before becoming the first female Wine Specialist in New York’s largest distributor, a rare feat at the time. Despite traversing the globe, the allure of returning to this area was undeniable.
Amici dei Vini was inspired by Paola’s love for entertaining, learning and bringing people together. The shop embodies her vision of a haven for wine and spirits enthusiasts, a place she hopes all will embrace as their own. The name, meaning "Friends of Wine," pays homage to Paola’s Italian heritage, while the logo's silhouette evokes the charm of her parents’ hometown.

Raised in his family’s wine business in Westchester, James brings a wealth of retail experience and a deep-seated passion for fine wines. With a deep understanding of his clientele’s wants and needs, he relished the role he plays in supporting their wine journey. James is thrilled to bring his expertise to the Scarsdale community and create a space where every customer feels valued—a safe haven where wine enthusiasts and spirit aficionados can explore, discover, and share their stories.
